Legacy

      Amelia Earhart is famous as she is the only one woman who is brave in achieving her goal in life at that time. She wants to be a solo first woman who flight around the world. She is an independent woman and successful woman that never give up easily in order to prove that women also can do what men can do. "Women must pay for everything. They do get more glory than men for comparable feats, but they also get more notoriety when they crash." -Amelia Earhart.

      What Amelia Earhart left or the legacy of Amelia Earhart? There are few legacies that Amelia Earhart left behind. First and foremost is, Earhart's life and career have been celebrated for the past several decades on "Amelia Earhart Day," which is held annually on July 24 on her birthday in 1897. It is for remembrance of the first female pilot who attempt to fly around the world. Other than that, the home where Earhart was born is now the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum and the place is maintained by The Ninety-Nines, an international group of female pilots of whom Earhart was the first elected president. Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum is located on a west bluff overlooking the Missouri River at 223 North Terrace, Atchison, Kansas and also placed in the Amelia Earhart Historical District which was listed on the National Register on February 1, 2002. The Museum is opened to the public and it has consistently proven to be a leading public attraction in the Atchison area because there are lot of people visited the Museum.

The home was designated a National Historic Site in 1971. In 1984, the Ninety-Nines (an International Organization of Licensed Women Pilots) acquired the home. The museum open on Monday until Friday at 9 am- 4 pm.

      The movie “Amelia,” detailing the life of Amelia Earhart, debuted in the fall of 2009 to mixed reviews. the movie is showing the real life story of Amelia Earhart which is filled with mystery of disappearance of her last flight.

 Movie of Amelia is directed by Mira Nair and starring by Hilary Swank as Earhart and Richard Gere as Amelia's husband, George Putnam, along with Christopher Eccleston and Ewan McGregor.

     Other legacy is,  Earhart Light in the Howland Island where people believed that it is the last destination of Amelia and her navigator. It also known as the Amelia Earhart Light a navigational day beacon on Howland Island.

In the remembrance of Amelia Earhart, a lighthouse is built in the Howland Island. The location is 1900 miles SW of Honolulu, Pacific Ocean. the monument was constructed to support the attempted of Amelia Earhart's around the world in 1937. It will retained as a memorial place after her death.
